# Run Your First Exploration

Start an exploration and understand what Antidote captures.

Once your product exists and has a target (or an environment, when [Releases](/welcome-to-antidote/viewport-dashboard/releases.md) are enabled for your organisation), you can start an exploration to discover reachable pages and user flows.

#### Open the product and choose a target

Open the product and choose a target from the target menu in the top-right navbar, or create one from the same menu if none exists yet.

#### Start exploration

On the product's Overview, click **Start exploration**. When [Releases](/welcome-to-antidote/viewport-dashboard/releases.md) are enabled for your organisation, click **Record release**, choose the environment, enter the version (for example `1.2.2`), and Antidote explores it.

#### Watch progress

Open the **Runs** tab to follow progress in the runs table, or watch **Recent runs** on the Overview. When [Releases](/welcome-to-antidote/viewport-dashboard/releases.md) are enabled, open the release from [Releases](/welcome-to-antidote/viewport-dashboard/releases.md) and follow it under **Exploration runs**.

### What Antidote captures

During exploration, Antidote:

1. Visits your application's URL
2. Finds interactive elements like links, buttons, forms, and menus
3. Executes actions in a real browser
4. Records screenshots and page state at each transition
5. Captures errors, network failures, and broken elements
6. Builds a graph of discovered states and transitions

If the app needs a login, an org admin adds a credential set in **Product settings** and sets the product's Base URL so Antidote reaches the sign-in page.
